WHAT IS YOUR WHY?

With all of us stepping into 2023, and so much going on every day around us, sometimes we tend to forget the basic question that is keeping us going, and if you can answer this question you will have a lot of clarity about what you want from life or what you should be focused, are you in the right direction of where ever you are heading or you do need to take a left, right or U-turn ?

Everyday office-going warrior observes a lot in his/her environment but since we all are hooked up to our phones and electronic gadget around us, and focused on something that is distracting us from the actual question, for example, we are sure you would have seen one of colleague desk that he has his family photo on his desk, or someone taking a sabbatical leave or someone trying to minimize the use of electronic devices from their lives? and we all have our theories & judgments about them but if you try to understand them closely it’s their WHY?

DISCOVERING YOUR WHY

Your why” is the reason behind your actions and decisions. It’s the underlying motivation that drives you to do what you do. It’s the thing that gives your life purpose and meaning. When you understand your why you can make better decisions and take more meaningful action. Going back to having family photos on the desk reminds that individual about his actions are for them, and the purpose of his job is his love and support for his family.

Knowing your why can help you to be more intentional and responsible for your actions. Instead of going through the motions, snapping, or taking hasty decisions, you can be more focused on your choices and decisions while taking steps toward your goals. It also helps you to stay fixed on what matters to you and to be more robust when dealing with challenges.

DEFINING YOUR WHY

Now the question is how to define your why it is a very personal choice and each individual will have his or her own Why so there is no general rule of them or set of questions that fits all but we can help you to guide in some way to help you to define your why

The Why will be a purpose of you achieving something from your talent, something you are passionate about, it might take you on a journey to enhance your skills and expertise, bring value to your life

Ask yourself questions like:

What do I want to achieve?

What brings me joy and fulfillment?

What am I passionate about?

What legacy do I want to leave behind?

Why do I have to do this?

Why do I value this over the other thing?

Why am I not happy when certain unfavorable events/incidents happen?

Why am I anxious now

One more way to discover your why is to think about the moments in your life when you felt most fulfilled, happy, joyful, and satisfied. Analyze what you were doing and what and why it was important to you in those moments. These moments can provide valuable insight into what truly motivates you.

IN THE END WHY IT MATTERED

Once you discover your why, it’s important to keep it in mind as you make decisions and take action. It can serve as a guiding principle and a source of inspiration. Share it with others, and as it will serve as a powerful reminder of what truly matters to you.

You have to be disciplined about it, and stay true to yourself so that it can make your journey worthwhile.

In conclusion, understanding “your why” is a powerful tool for self-discovery and personal growth. It can help you understand your motivations, make better decisions and stay focused on what truly matters to you. It’s a process of self-reflection, exploration, and experimentation, but once you find it, it can be a powerful force that guides you in your personal and professional life.
